There wasn't space for two word balloons in panel 1, so Jen's got axed. I could have moved mine over, but I guess I was lazy. And yes, I purposefully misused "insomnia" there. It's humor. Laugh.

Why do I have an exit door in an underground base? Very good question. Actually, that leads to an emergency stairwell you take up to the surface. See? I actually thought my way out of that plot hole. What does the sign on the door say? No idea.

Carl's name is borrowed from the guy in Aqua Teen Hunger Force. This guy never appears anywhere else, and doesn't even have a mention in the Characters section. He's that unimportant. The punchline of this strip is because Ithaca is so damn COLD.

"Mistah J" is Harley Quinn's affectionate name for the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series.

Remember Tom? From the DDE fiasco? How about the disgruntled old guy from issue one of Unfamiliar Reflection? Or the penguin from The Wrong Trousers? Oh wait...that's not the penguin from...

If I didn't already, I do it here. This is where Evil Jim jumps the shark. This is also the last regular strip to have a title.

Star Trek doors again. The door number has no significance.

All the phylum on the shelves are different penguins. I originally was going to use the one for Emperor Penguins, but changed it to something a little more obvious.

Those of you who have checked the Evil Penguin link on the main page already know what's coming. "EP," duh, stands for Evil Penguin. I used his logo for the text message. The spell-checker joke is because Pat sometimes misspells words. He doesn't even care, despite my pleas to try and use correct spelling and grammar. All the Internet seems good for these days is allowing people to talk however they feel like talking.

"End of Evil" is taken from the End of Evangelion anime (End of Eva is the familiar shorthand title).
