Ain't I a stinker? In Utena, End of the World is something that's kinda vague, and it's really more of an idea than a physical object. Here, I was working under the assumption that the readers who had seen Utena were expecting it to be the same thing, but NO! It's a giant frigging nuke. Makes sense, doesn't it? Now go back to the beginning of Part II and see how this fits with everything they've been saying.
Jen's line in panel 6 is taken from Lina Inverse at the very end of Slayers TRY. She says the exact same thing to the bad guy who was just about to eliminate all of reality and essentially "reboot" the universe.
All Jim had to say was "activate" and Ithaca is fucked. "Dominus of Megadeath" is a combination of "Dominus of Megadeus" from Big O (it means the predestined person who can pilot a giant robot) and the three-ring binder report on "Megadeaths" General Turgeson had with him in Dr. Strangelove.
I'm not sure what those pictures are there on either side of the cockpit. I can't remember if they had any specific purpose. I think the one on the left was a sketch of the Ithaca area.

Filler strip I made because I was too busy watching the season finale of 24 to make a strip. One of Jack Bauer's many catch phrases on the show is "Tell me where the bomb is!" It sort of fit with the current EJ storyline, so I used it.
The PPK returns!

Jim Classic quotes a line from Utena here. The sound referenced in the show is really a car engine, but don't even get me started on the symbolism there. Here it's meant to indicate a sound is resonanting from within the bomb called End of the World. See how I pull things from Utena and make them work in completely different ways? I don't know if I'm a total lame-ass for copying this show or a genius for reassigning all the symbolism.
How can the Jims hear ticking and Jen can't? No idea. Just go with it.
